Groundhog Landscaping designs and installs paver pool decks, coping, and full backyard poolscapes across the Buffalo metro area. As a Belgard Authorized Contractor and ICPI member, our pool-deck installs hold up to Buffalo’s freeze-thaw, chlorine exposure, and the daily abuse of wet feet, sunscreen, and pool chemicals far better than poured concrete or stamped slabs. Pool decks installed to manufacturer spec carry a lifetime manufacturer warranty on the paver itself.
Pavers stay cooler under bare feet than dark stamped concrete, don’t crack with WNY freeze-thaw, can be individually replaced if a section ever shifts, and offer a textured surface that’s safer when wet. Coordinated paver patterns let us define lounge, dining, and pool-edge zones without changing the surface or installing fences.
Questions Buffalo-area pool owners ask before they replace or build a pool deck.
Yes — this is one of our most common projects. We remove the existing concrete deck or pavers, evaluate the base, regrade as needed, and install new Belgard pavers and coping that match the pool edge and your overall design. Existing pool liners and structure can almost always remain in place.
Modern concrete pavers have a textured surface designed for wet environments and are less slippery than smooth stamped concrete when wet. We choose paver lines with a slip-resistant finish for pool decks specifically.
No — concrete pavers tolerate normal chlorine and salt-pool exposure without issue. Splash-over is fine; we just recommend rinsing the deck off occasionally during heavy use to keep residue from building up in the joint sand.
Most full pool-deck installs in Erie County come in between $25–$50 per square foot depending on paver line, coping detail, demolition required, and any walls or steps. A typical 600 sq ft deck lands in the $18,000–$30,000 range. We provide a written fixed price after a site visit.
2–4 weeks for most residential poolscapes, weather permitting. Larger projects with seat walls, an outdoor kitchen, and lighting can run 4–8 weeks. We coordinate sequencing with the pool builder if it’s a new pool install.
Yes. Belgard concrete pavers handle saltwater chlorination without degradation. The deck installation itself is the same; we just specify a polymeric joint sand and sealing approach compatible with salt exposure.
