Groundhog Landscaping’s winter division operates each year from approximately November 1 through April 1, providing snow plowing, salting, ice management, and seasonal décor setup for residential and commercial properties across Buffalo, Clarence, Amherst, Williamsville, East Amherst, Lancaster, Cheektowaga, Hamburg, Orchard Park, and the surrounding Western New York region.
When the same crew that plows your driveway is the one that mowed your lawn last summer, edge cases get handled correctly — they know where the irrigation heads are, which paver edge sticks up an inch under the snow, and which side of the apron the town plow always piles up. That continuity is why most of our maintenance clients add snow service to their year-round program.
Common winter service questions from Buffalo and Clarence-area clients.
It covers snow plowing, salt and ice management (rock salt, calcium chloride), sidewalk and entry clearing, and seasonal décor setup (holiday lighting, wreaths, garland). Each component is available individually or bundled.
Salt is typically priced per application for residential and a combination of per-application + seasonal cap for commercial. We tailor the salt plan to your surface (asphalt, concrete, pavers) and the typical temperature regime where you live.
Standard concrete pavers tolerate normal rock salt. For higher-end paver surfaces we recommend a calcium magnesium acetate or sand alternative to be safe. Avoid de-icers containing ammonium-based products on any concrete surface — they accelerate freeze-thaw damage.
Yes — we install, maintain, and take down seasonal lighting on rooflines, trees, and shrubs, along with garland and wreaths around entries. Holiday lighting books up early; reach out in September if you want a slot for the upcoming season.
For commercial accounts, yes. For residential we generally bundle salt with plowing because mid-storm salt-only visits are operationally difficult. Drop us a note and we’ll see what we can do.
